news itemIn Memoriam
On Monday, April 16th, the Life Strategies family suffered a tragic loss when Gerry, Roberta’s husband and Life Strategies’ VP, passed away. This unexpected loss has shocked family, friends, and professional colleagues. Gerry was an integral member of our team and a dear friend; he will be greatly missed. We’d like to thank all those who sent along kind words and prayers and appreciate your patience during this time as we work through our grief.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Mount of Olives Children’s Village, Missions Network International PO Box 75300, White Rock, BC V4B 5L4. In the memo line, cheques can state “In memory of Gerry Neault.” Learn more about Mount of Olives at www.missions-network.org

news itemGot Career Resources Needing A Good Home?

We’re aware that many BC-based organizations in the sector are shutting their doors at the end of this month and others are consolidating their resources as they form new partnerships. Before you pack up or discard your books, assessment tools, card sorts, or other relevant print resources, would you consider sharing them with career practitioner students and other newcomers to the field?

We’d be happy to serve as a temporary clearinghouse, ensuring resources find a new home.

Contact cassie@lifestrategies.ca if you have resources to contribute.

news itemIn 2004, Life Strategies launched the Career Management Professional Program (CMPP) with the goal of bringing high quality education to career practitioners, career/employment counsellors, and other professionals. The success of CMPP led to the development of other courses and programs; overall, LearnOnline offers over 50 courses and has welcomed students from around the world.

We are thrilled to announce that Life Strategies LearnOnline has trained over 1,000 students since 2004; 42% of them were in British Columbia. We also want to take a moment to congratulate our 1000th student – Shelly McDonald from Whitehorse, Yukon.

news itemSelf-Employment Suite of ResourcesPDF flyer
Recent research by the Life Strategies team confirmed an interesting reality:  The single best predictor that a career practitioner will have a conversation about self-employment with a client is "self-employment coaching self-efficacy." This means that, until CDPs feel equipped to explore self-employment as a work option with clients, those conversations are simply not going to happen! The Look Before You Leap suite of resources can help.
